Birth Doula in Cornwall
Offering calm, continuous support through pregnancy, birth and the early hours after meeting your baby.
Birth can feel exciting, empowering, overwhelming, uncertain; and often all at the same time. As your doula, my role is not to tell you what to do or how your birth should look. Instead, I'm there to support you, ensuring you feel informed and confident about your options, and calmly walk with you as you navigate your own path.
Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, induction or caesarean birth, you deserve to feel held, listened to, respected and supported.
What does a birth doula do?
Maybe you are already familiar with what doulas do, or perhaps it’s something you’ve just started to read about. A birth doula provides emotional, practical and evidence-based support during pregnancy and birth, and the early days.
For some families, that looks like talking through birth preferences and helping them feel more confident in their choices by ensuring you have all of the information you need, without feeling rushed. For others, it might be breathing together through contractions, helping create a calm environment, making sure everyone has eaten and rested, and simply being a reassuring and familiar presence in the room. I respond to what you need, offering support that meets you where you are, and responds to your own personal needs and goals as a family.
I support both you and your birth partner, and we will spend time together during your pregnancy getting to know one another. Many partners say that having a doula present allows them to fully relax into their own role, knowing there is someone there to offer reassurance, hold space, and help support you.
Above all, my role is to provide continuity of care. Someone who knows you, understands your hopes and concerns, and is there beside you when the big day arrives. We know that continuity of care can make a huge difference to having a positive birth experience.
What makes my support different?
Every doula brings something unique and wonderful to their work, we are all different. Alongside my doula and hypnobirthing practitioner training, I bring a blend of deep knowledge, lived experience and empathy that allows me to support families in a holistic way throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
-
My comprehensive birth doula package includes my full hypnobirthing and antenatal course, meaning you'll receive both practical birth preparation and continuous doula support. We'll spend time exploring birth physiology, your options, decision making, birth preferences, comfort measures, partner support and more, helping you feel informed and prepared as birth approaches. Together, we build a toolkit to help you manage your labour, and create a positive experience of birth.
-
No two families are the same, and I don't believe support should be either.
I take time to get to know you, your circumstances, your hopes, your worries and the way you learn best. Some people love understanding the science of birth, while others learn best through practical activities, discussion, visual learning or relaxation techniques. I adapt my approach to the people in front of me, creating a space where both you and your birth partner feel included, supported and able to ask questions. Also… snacks, we make sure there are good snacks!
-
As part of my support, I often create and share resources tailored to your individual needs. I also write personalised hypnobirthing relaxation tracks, designed around your specific concerns, fears, hopes and circumstances.
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, my aim is to help you build confidence in a way that feels relevant and meaningful to you.
-
Support doesn't stop when a session ends.
Alongside our face-to-face meetings, I offer ongoing support via WhatsApp and email, sharing resources, answering questions and signposting you to additional support where helpful. Many families tell me that simply knowing they can reach out between sessions helps them feel more supported and less alone. This level of support is available from booking me as your doula. Additionally, I can accompany you to scans, antenatal appointments, or meetings with consultants, as sometimes having someone who knows you can make sure you feel fully supported.

Feeding your baby can bring just as many questions and anxieties as birth itself. As a self-confessed infant feeding geek and experienced breastfeeding peer supporter, I love helping families understand what to expect, prepare for the early days, and access the right support when they need it. I am able to provide breastfeeding support, ensuring you understand how feeding works, and how to get things off to the best start. As part of my postnatal doula work, I can help support you in the early days of feeding your baby, ensuring you feel empowered in your choices and confident in your path.
As a mother of twins, I am well aware of the challenges that feeding your baby can throw at you when you are already sleep deprived (an understatement perhaps) so I will hold you with empathy, care, and support to help you achieve your feeding goals.
-
With a background in teaching yoga and a superpower for making others feel steady, I bring a calm, supportive and non-judgemental presence to my work. My role is never to tell you what to do, but to help you feel informed, listened to and supported in making the choices that are right for you and your family.
-
My own experience of high risk pregnancy, birth and a challenging postnatal period with twins is one of the reasons I became a doula. While every family's journey is different, I understand first-hand how transformative, joyful, challenging and life-changing this season can be. Feeling supported can have a huge impact on maternal mental health outcomes, and this is something I take great pride in supporting with my work as a birth and postnatal doula.

One of the greatest benefits of having a doula is knowing that you have someone who really truly knows you and your story. The time we spend together in your pregnancy means you and your birth partner feel truly held as we enter the birth space together.
I'll come to your home for our antenatal sessions, support you wholeheartedly as birth approaches, be there continuously during labour, and continue supporting you in those first hours after meeting your baby. Rather than retelling your story to different people, you'll have one familiar, trusted person walking alongside you throughout the journey.
Why do families choose doula support?
Families often tell me they want someone who knows them and understands their story. Someone who can offer continuity, reassurance and support as they navigate pregnancy, birth and the transition into parenthood. They want to feel more informed about their options, more confident in their decision-making, and less alone as they prepare to welcome their baby.
A doula can provide a calm and steady presence throughout the journey. Practical support for you, reassurance for your birth partner, and someone in your corner who understands what matters most to you. There is no ‘perfect’ birth, and there is no right way to do this, but there is your way and I love to support families with their own unique journey. My role is to help you feel informed, supported and held as you approach birth and meet your baby - whatever path your journey takes.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
It’s best to book as early as you can in pregnancy to allow us time to get to know each other, and prepare with antenatal education and hypnobirthing. However, I also offer a more focused package for families booking later on, so it’s never too late to get in touch.
-
Yes - if I have availability I can offer support later in pregnancy. In these cases, we would usually focus on more essential preparation while ensuring you still feel fully supported and prepared for birth. You can still benefit from continuity of care for labour and the early days. It’s never to late to get in touch.
-
Absolutely. It’s a common misconception that doulas only support the mother. Supporting your birth partner is a key part of my work. I help them understand what to expect, build confidence in their role, and feel like an active and supported part of your birth experience.
-
Birth is unpredictable, and part of my role is helping you feel informed and supported no matter what unfolds. We focus on understanding your options, tools to stay calm, making decisions as things change, and ensuring you feel heard and supported throughout.
-
The best way to decide is to talk it through together. We’ll look at how far along you are, what support you’d like during pregnancy, and what would feel most helpful for your birth preparation. You don’t need to decide before we speak.

Doula support can be so valuable whether this is your first baby or your fourth.
You might be looking for extra reassurance, preparing for a new arrival after a previous birth experience that still feels difficult, planning a home birth, navigating a twin pregnancy, or simply wanting more personalised support than standard NHS maternity care can provide.
Every family is different, which is why our first conversation is always about getting to know one another and exploring what support would feel most helpful for you.
Supporting all types of birth across Cornwall
I offer birth doula services within an hours drive from Penzance, and will gladly support you wherever you would like to give birth. My support is non-judgemental, inclusive, and is tailored to your unique story.
I will travel to meet you when, transfer with you if need be, and stay by your side until you are settled with your baby after birth. I then follow up by visiting your home to support you in the days after welcoming your new addition.
I'd love to hear about your pregnancy, your hopes for birth, and how I might support you.
No pressure or obligation, just a relaxed conversation.
