Birth Doula in Cornwall
Offering calm, grounding support through pregnancy, birth + the hours + days after bringing home your baby.
Why choose birth doula support?
Families often tell me they want someone who knows them + understands their story when they come to give birth. Someone who can offer continuity, reassurance + support as they navigate pregnancy, labour + the transition into parenthood.
They want to feel informed about their options, confident in decisions + less alone. There is no perfect birth, and there is no single right way to do this. But, there is your way + my role is to encourage you to find that voice as I support you.
My role is to walk alongside you, offering a calm, steady presence + support that is shaped around you. Whatever birth looks like, you deserve to feel informed, supported + held.
What does a doula do?
Maybe you're already familiar with what doulas do, or perhaps it's something you've only just started to explore.
A birth doula provides emotional, practical + informational support throughout pregnancy, birth + the early days with your baby.
For some families, that means talking through birth preferences, exploring options + making sure you have the information you need to make decisions without feeling rushed. For others, it might be breathing together through contractions, helping create a calm environment, making sure everyone has eaten + rested, or simply being a reassuring, grounding presence in the room.
I respond to what you need, meeting you where you are + supporting your individual hopes, needs + goals as a family.
I support your birth partner too. We'll spend time together during pregnancy getting to know one another, so that when the time comes, they have someone alongside them too. Many partners find that having a doula means they can relax more fully into their own role, knowing there is someone there to offer reassurance, practical support + a steady presence for both of you.
Above all, my role is to provide continuity of care. To be someone who knows you, understands your hopes + concerns, and can walk alongside you through the uncertainty, intensity + enormity of becoming a parent.
I believe you deserve doula care that is personal, calm + without judgement.
I don't have a particular birth outcome I'm trying to achieve for you.
Instead, I'll help you explore your options, understand what matters to you + prepare for different possibilities, so you can make decisions that feel right for your family.
My support is gentle, practical + grounded. I'll listen, answer questions, offer information when you want it + be there to remind you of your own strengths when things feel uncertain.
Because no two families are the same, I don't think doula support should be either.
The Held approach
More than birth support
My work as a doula is shaped by the different parts of my experience, as a doula, hypnobirthing practitioner, yoga teacher, breastfeeding peer supporter + parent.
I bring a mind-body-led approach to birth support, helping you connect with your breath, body + instincts alongside the practical preparation and information you need.
Yoga has taught me the value of slowing down, tuning in to notice what your body is telling you + finding ways to work with it rather than against it. These are simple but powerful tools that can support you throughout pregnancy + become incredibly useful during labour, when things feel intense or unfamiliar.
I'll also support your birth partner to feel genuinely involved - not simply present in the room, but informed, confident + equipped to support you in ways that feel meaningful to both of you.
And as a twin mum, I know first-hand that pregnancy, birth + early parenthood don't always follow the neat path we might have imagined.
I bring all of this into my doula work, while keeping you, your family + your own experience at the centre.
There isn't one right way to prepare for birth. My role is to help you find yours.

My comprehensive Full Hypnobirthing Birth Doula package includes my full hypnobirthing + antenatal course, meaning you'll receive both practical birth preparation + continuous doula support. We'll spend time exploring birth physiology, your options, decision making, birth preferences, comfort measures, partner support + more, helping you feel informed + prepared as birth approaches. Together, we build a toolkit to help you manage your labour, and create a positive experience of birth. We also prepare for what comes after, feeding, sleep (not much sleep…), matrescence + how relationships can change.
-
No two families are the same + I don't believe support should be either.
I take time to get to know you, your circumstances, your hopes, your worries + the way you learn best. Some people love understanding the science of birth, while others learn best through practical activities, discussion, visual learning or relaxation techniques. I adapt my approach to the people in front of me, creating a space where both you + your birth partner feel included, supported + able to ask questions. Also… snacks, we make sure there are good snacks!
-
As part of my support, I share resources tailored to your individual needs. I can also write + record personalised hypnobirthing relaxation tracks, designed around your specific concerns, fears, hopes + circumstances.
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, my aim is to help you build confidence in a way that feels relevant + meaningful to you.
-
Support doesn't stop when a session ends.
Alongside our face-to-face meetings, I offer ongoing support via WhatsApp + email, sharing resources, answering questions + signposting you to additional support where helpful. Many families tell me that simply knowing they can reach out between sessions helps them feel more supported + less alone. This level of support is available from booking me as your doula. Additionally, I can accompany you to scans, antenatal appointments, or meetings with consultants, as sometimes having someone who knows you can make a huge difference when advocating for your wishes.

Feeding your baby can bring just as many questions + anxieties as birth itself. As a self-confessed infant feeding geek and experienced breastfeeding peer supporter in both the community + hospital setting, I love helping families understand what to expect, prepare for the early days + access the right support when they need it. I am able to provide breastfeeding support, ensuring you understand how feeding works + how to get things off to the best start. As part of my postnatal doula work, I can help support you in the early days of feeding your baby, ensuring you feel empowered in your choices + confident in your path.
As a mother of twins, I am well aware of the challenges that feeding your baby can throw at you when you are already sleep deprived (an understatement perhaps) so I will hold you with empathy, judgement free care + support to help you achieve your feeding goals.
-
As yoga teacher + as someone with superpower for making others feel steady, I bring a calm, supportive and non-judgemental presence to my work. My role is never to tell you what to do, but to help you feel informed, listened to + supported in making the choices that are right for you and your family.
-
My own experience of high risk pregnancy, birth + a challenging postnatal period with twins is one of the reasons I became a doula. While every family's journey is different, I understand first-hand how transformative, joyful, challenging + life-changing this season can be. Feeling supported can have a huge impact on maternal mental health outcomes, and this is something I take great pride in supporting with my work as a birth + postnatal doula.
-
One of the greatest benefits of having a doula is knowing that you have someone who really truly knows you + your story. The time we spend together in your pregnancy means you + your birth partner feel truly held as we enter the birth space together.
I'll come to your home for our antenatal + hypnobirthing sessions, support you wholeheartedly as birth approaches, be there continuously during labour + continue supporting you in those first hours after meeting your baby. Rather than retelling your story to different people, you'll have one familiar, trusted person walking alongside you throughout the journey.
Could I be your doula?
Every doula brings something special to the birth space, we are all unique. Alongside my doula + hypnobirthing work + yoga teaching, I bring a blend of knowledge, lived experience, calm + empathy to support you in a thoughtful way through pregnancy, birth + beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s best to book as early you are able to during your pregnancy to allow us time to get to know each other, and prepare with antenatal education + hypnobirthing + so I can block out your on-call window. However, I also offer a more focused package for families booking later on, so it’s never too late to get in touch.
-
Yes - if I have availability I can offer birth doula when booking later in pregnancy. When this is the case, we focus on essential preparation while ensuring you still feel fully supported + prepared for birth. There is always time to invest in a positive birth experience. It’s never too late to get in touch.
-
Absolutely. I’m there for BOTH of you. It’s a common misconception that doulas only support the mother. Supporting your birth partner is a key part of my work. I help them understand what to expect, build confidence in their role + feel like an active and supported part of your birth experience. I’m the pair of hands that holds you both.
-
Birth is unpredictable + we cannot control it. A big part of my role is helping you feel informed + supported no matter what unfolds. We focus on understanding your options in pregnancy so you are prepared to navigate both the system + birth, tools to stay calm, making decisions as things change + ensuring you feel heard and supported throughout. Above all, I will be by your side, holding your hand + reminding you that you can do this.
-
The best way to decide is for us to talk it through together. We’ll look at what support you’d like during pregnancy + what would feel most helpful for your birth preparation. You don’t need to decide now.
-
Doula support can be so valuable whether this is your first baby or your fourth.
You might be looking for extra reassurance, preparing for a new arrival after a previous birth experience that still feels difficult, planning a home birth, navigating a twin pregnancy, or simply wanting more personalised support than standard NHS maternity care can provide.
Every family is different, which is why our first conversation is always about getting to know one another + exploring what support would feel most helpful for you.
Supporting all types of birth across Cornwall
I offer birth doula services within an hours drive from Penzance + will gladly support you wherever you would like to give birth.
My support is non-judgemental, inclusive + is tailored to your unique story.
I will travel to meet you in labour, transfer with you if need be + stay by your side until you are settled with your baby after birth. I then follow up by visiting your home to support you in the days after welcoming your new addition (package dependant).
Additional postnatal doula support is available, to help you find your rhythm + confidence for as long as this feels helpful.
Choosing a doula is a hugely personal decision + it's important that you find someone who feels right. If that might be me, I'd love to hear a little about you, your pregnancy + what you're looking for from your doula.
No pressure or obligation, just a relaxed chat.
